API Keys

You can manage SiteHost AI Platform API keys via the SiteHost Control Panel.

Key Restrictions

When creating or editing a key, you'll have options to restrict based on:

  • Model (selected from the available models at the time of key creation/edit)
  • Capability (one of inference, embedding, reranking, transcription - broader grained access than model restrictions)
  • IP Address/network

Anything not meeting these restrictions will be denied (HTTP 403).

Key Limits

You are able to set both a request-per-minute rate limit for keys (measured as a sliding window), and you're able to set soft cost limits.

Cost limits work on a per-key basis, and can be managed hourly, daily and monthly. These are measured as fixed windows (e.g. an hourly rate limit aggregates from the start of every hour), and trigger on requests once the rate limit is hit. This means that in-flight requests before the rate limit is reached will be allowed through, so your key is able to bump over each limit with burst traffic.

Managing keys

You can create, edit and remove AI API keys from the SiteHost Control Panel. This also offers examples of basic usage. image%20%282%29

Adding a key

When creating a key, you can set initial restrictions which will apply upon creation. Once created, the API key will be shown to you once only - so make sure you save it somewhere!

Updating a key

You can edit existing API key restrictions. Any changes made will apply live, so any requests made after the change is submitted will be affected by the new restrictions. image%20%281%29

Deleting a key

Deleting a key is permanent - once deleted, a key will no longer function at all. Existing billing and usage history will remain accessible for the key.
