Importing Existing SSL Certificates

Last updated September 13th, 2010

If you have already purchased a SSL Certificate the you can easily import it into the SiteHost Control Panel.

Step by Step

Follow these steps to import an SSL certificate:

  1. Click "All SSL Certificates".

  2. Click "Import Certificate".

  3. Type the Common Name of the certificate. The Common Name is the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) which you defined as part of the Certificate purchase.

  4. The certificate supplier will have supplied you with a unencrypted RSA Private Key (typically stored in a .key file). Open the file and copy the contents of the key into the Private Key field.

  5. Click "Import Certificate". See Figure 1.

  6. The supplier will have given you a CRT file. Open this file and copy its contents into the CRT field.

  7. If the supplier provided you with a Chain CRT file then open and copy the contents into the Chain CRT field. Otherwise ignore this step.

  8. Click "Update Certificate". See Figure 2.

You have now successfully imported your SSL Certificate into the Control Panel.
