Creating a Database User

Creating a Database User

Last updated September 13th, 2010

This functionality allows users to create new database users. This will add the user to the database server, but will not assign the user to any databases - this is a separate process that is explained in the article "Adding a User to a Database".

Step by Step

  1. Click "All MySQL servers", then click the server on which you want to create the user.

  2. Click the '+ Add' button above the grid or the link "Add user" under MySQL Options, or the button top/right. See Figure 1.

  3. Enter a Username and Password for the new user. See Figure 2.

  4. Click the "Add user" button below the password fields. Note: You will be asked for a different username if the user already exists on the server, or another password if the one you entered is invalid - it must be at least 6 characters long.
