Changing Contacts for a Domain

Changing Contacts for a Domain

Last updated July 20th, 2012

You are able to change the Contact associated with a domain at any time - i.e. the 'Registrant', 'Billing contact' and 'Technical contact'. These contact details are used when email alerts are sent around domain renewals, UDAI requests etc.

However the actual Registrant name, i.e. the legal entity that "owns" the domain, can only be changed by printing and completing the "Change of Registrant" form. This is linked to under the "Registrant name" field (see below and Figure 2).

Note: Editing the contact details (eg phone, address etc) for a specific contact is done in the Domain Contacts module.

Changing The Contacts

Follow these steps to change the linked contacts:

  1. Select the domain you want to change the contacts for. (see Figure 1)
  2. Select the contact that you want for the domain. (see Figure 2)

Note: If the contact you want is not in the list, click "+ Create" to add a new contact (see Figure 2). Once you fill in the new contact details you will be returned to this screen where you can select your new contact.

  3. Click "Update contacts". (See Figure 2)

Changing the Registrant Name

To change the Registrant Name you will need to complete the "Change of Registrant" form. The form is required because the Registrant Name is technically the legal entity that owns the domain. There is a charge to process these applications but more information is available within the document.
