What are image versions?

Last updated November 28th, 2016

If you are familiar with any form of VCS, then you will understand the importance of having versions of your images. This allows you to quickly and seamlessly deploy new instances of your application, or if you have any issues, you can switch to a previous working version.

Every time you make a change and push those changes, an automated build is triggered. During this build process we automatically figure out and handle the version of your image.

Swapping image versions

Swapping image versions for custom images is exactly the same as swapping an ordinary image.

My image failed to build successfully

Images that failed to build successfully cannot be used when creating a new container or switching image versions. We make this image available but marked as failed so you can view the build log and see what's gone wrong.

If you no longer have a need for the build log, you can safely remove the failed image version.
